Film and Video
My decades-long career in film and video began in New York at NYU's graduate film program. Early highlights include five years at R/GA, where I learned to work with 35mm film, cut one small sequence in the cult movie Ladyhawke, and was part of the copywriting team for some classic 1980s movie trailers. I also worked in Woody Allen's cutting room for a year.
A move to Boston brought me to a long association with WGBH and PBS. Cable work with Discovery, History Channel, and more followed. More recently, I've worked on films for MIT, for films about artists, and for a continuing series called About Face, featuring veterans whose PTSD improved after treatment at the VA.
Theater
Stage-struck early, I found a way to stay in the theater throughout my film/video career by writing plays. Several full-lengths have been produced over the years in New York, Boston, Providence, and Vermont.
I taught in the Brandeis grad playwriting program for five years, and was President of Playwrights Platform in Boston for two, initiating and directing the New Play Incubator. With Kate Snodgrass, I co-founded the Boston Theater Marathon, a ten-minute play festival, that is still thriving after more than twenty-five years.
